Its a very important engine. For our international development its key and can improve a lot. We will produce it in China as part of a joint venture.”
The 1.4- and 1.6-litre units are used in B-, C- and D-segment Peugeot, Citro?n, BMW and Mini vehicles. BMW is launching its own 1.5- and 2-litre three- and four-cylinder engines but PSA thinks the Prince family can keep going.
The highly tuned version of the 1.6 turbo in the Peugeot RCZ R coupe, designated EP6CDTR within PSA, generates 199kW at 6,000rpm and 330Nm from 1,900rpm. Despite the high output, the vehicle emits only 145g/km CO2.
