i love the new oil testing specialyl on mobil 1 5w30… the 2 temperatures you tested. I was wondering if you could test the oil at 300 degree as well at least for the the top tier oils… turbo boosting at really high psi, would generate incredible amounts of heat…. so it would be of interest to alot of turbo users which oil actually protects them best…
Your new oil testing now explains why some turbo experience thrush bearing damage on mobil 1 5w30 during high boost applications… were temps in the turbo are at higher then normal operating temp, thus lowered oil film stregth.

Hi again Dez. Previously I have tested some oils at 275*F and at 325*F. What I found with those tests was that their wear protection capability had basically leveled off by 275*F, and then stayed essentially the same at 325*F. Based on that, you can look at the values for those oils that were just recently tested at 275*F, to see what you would also expect to see at 300*F. And for any future high temp testing, I can test them directly at 300*F.
For Turbo guys looking for a 5W30 oil that still performs well at elevated temperatures. They could consider:
5W30 Quaker State Ultimate Durability, API SN, GM dexos 1 approved, synthetic (gold bottle)
and
5W30 Pennzoil “Ultra” Platinum, Pure Plus Technology, made from pure natural gas, API SN, GM dexos 1 approved (dark gray bottle with a blue vertical stripe on the label)
Both of those oils performed very well at 275*F, with only very small drops from their 230*F values.
